Why Guayusa?
We keep reminding ourselves, we are more than just a company that sells Guayusa. I mean, sure, all our products at the moment are Guayusa, but that’s because it is so damn cool. We chose it as our first product range because it aligns so perfectly with our ethos: It’s good for you, it increases performance, it’s all natural. What’s more, it is under appreciated, so we can make it our purpose to spread the word about this super-leaf coffee alternative. That’s why we are proud to market and sell this leaf; because we know that with every person we convert, we’re making the world just that little bit better.
That’s also why we’re giving away samples* at a loss, and why we provide the best value Guayusa in the UK. We don’t want to create products for the exclusive club of the well-off, we want to provide the most nutritious, all natural drinks at prices that are inclusive. Because healthy living should be a right not a luxury.
*Samples are 1 per person.

What is Guayusa?
Ilex Guayusa, is a tree native to the region of Ecuador in South America that grows in the amazon rainforest. It is a species of holly and a close cousin of Yerba Mate that is brewed and drunk like a tea by the indigenous tribes that have been drinking it for 1000s of years for the energy lift and strength it gives them in the harsh environment of the rainforest. The Kichwa tribe of Ecuador consider it a sacred leaf and nickname it ‘the Nightwatchman’ for the plants energizing properties. Unlike Yerba Mate of Argentina it is never smoked and it is nowhere near as bitter. It tastes a little like a green tea, except unlike green tea one cup of Guayusa has a high caffeine content more similar to coffee. Unlike coffee you will not experience the jitters or the crash, the caffeine boost is longer and smoother, which makes it a great alternative to coffee for those who need the energy boost but struggle with the side effects of coffee.
Other benefits of the leaf come from the interesting nutritional profile that include high antioxidant levels in the form of polyphenols and chlorogenic acids as well as L-theanine, theobromine, theophylline and all 19 amino-acids. In a study comparing the intake of caffeine from green coffee beans to that of Guayusa, they found that the adrenal response for the same quantity of caffeine 6-7x less for Guayusa than the green coffee beans! No wonder coffee makes people feel so anxious. We can only imagine the health benefits to your heart and overall well-being if you reduce your adrenaline levels by 6-7x just by drinking Guayusa as a coffee alternative.
